Primary Curriculum Delivery

Throughout Key Stage 1 and 2, our aim is to give every child access to quality curriculum music and the opportunity to play an instrument. To enable this, schools have a variety of pathways which can be chosen to enable a wide breadth of learning opportunities.

The offers available for each Key Stage are below. Please click on each provision for more information.

Curriculum Provision

Instrumental/Vocal Skills Development offer

It is important to choose a balanced curriculum for music. Our suggested combination to ensure all primary aged children receive a balanced curriculum uses the following HMS provision:

  • HMS class teacher for Year R and Year 1
  • KS1 Listen to Me (L2M) – Year 2
  • HMS class teacher (delivering the Music Curriculum) for Year 3,
  • KS2 Listen to Me (L2M) – Year 4
  • HMS class teacher (using the Music Curriculum) for Year 5 and 6, with optional bolt-on using instruments
